so they don’t see
that I [can] see

That is so funny because I feel the exact same way for so many people.
Don’t you feel, that sometimes we end up being actresses in front of many, just so that they feel that we can’t see through them?

This is a great question to ponder – I honestly feel as though we are constantly censoring and self-editing so as not to appear a certain way to certain people. It’s almost like the “once burned, twice shy,” methodology becomes a defense mechanism for us – as in, the first time we discover a behavior of ours is not “acceptable,” is the last time we display said behavior.
Alternatively, though we’re mostly authentic and free in how we express ourselves, some part of us is aware that this doesn’t always blow over well with others, which can lead to jealousy or animosity, or even mean-spiritedness from others – as such, we end up hiding vital parts of ourselves from them to avoid being taken advantage of or hurt.
To your point, we probably all are actors and actresses in some form or another – having to appear “normal” in so many public spaces even when it feels opposite to our core nature can cause us to mask who we truly are – I see it as more a survival tactic of ours than anything else. But yeah, it’s an interesting conundrum we’ve created for ourselves. Lol.
