No longer do I exist
to serve your every whim and desire;
In fact, I never have,
but I’ve spent so much time attempting
to “keep the peace”
that I failed to realize
peace lies within
and it was never my job
to “keep” it or try to manage it
for the simple sake of
your happiness –
especially when
your peacefulness is almost nonexistent;
the love we lost
has taken an immeasurable toll
with the price paid
